The Bobbing Forest was presented as part of the 2016 National Tree Festival in Rotterdam. The ‘forest’ was designed by art producer Mothership and calls attention to issues such as climate change and the importance of greenery in the city. It consists of 20 converted maritime buoys, each holding an elm. The forest floated for 5 years in Rotterdam's Rijnhaven near the Nieuwe Luxor theater. In January 2021 it was moved by barge from Rotterdam to Almere, on the occasion of Floriade Expo 2022. Van den Berk Nurseries is co-sponsor of the art project and supplied the elms: Ulmus 'Dodoens' in size 25-30. The trees were planted by the GKB group. They also took care of the relocation of the forest.
