The Gascoigne West, Phase 2 initiative is a comprehensive urban regeneration project located in Barking, London. It has a goal to construct 386 new residences and rejuvenate public spaces, putting a strong emphasis on both sustainability and the quality of the urban environment.

In collaboration with Skidmore Ltd, we made contributions to the landscape architecture of this project. We provided a variety of trees to improve the area's natural attributes and outdoor quality. Among the trees supplied were Acer campestre, which measure 450/500 cm in height and width, acting as natural green barriers. Pinus Nigra nigra trees were also planted with a trunk circumference of 30-35 cm to foster biodiversity. To round off the green composition, Celtis australis trees with a trunk girth of 60-70 cm and Acer zoeschense 'annae' trees with a 40-45 cm trunk girth were added.

Our carefully selected and positioned trees enhance the site's ecological health and contribute to a comfortable and healthful residential setting. This fits into the larger context of the redevelopment plan, which incorporates new areas for play, relaxation, and passage, enriched by large mature trees and select sensory and specimen planting. The design also includes areas populated with wildflowers and lawns, creating a multi-dimensional, ecological, and enjoyable outdoor space for the community.
